YES is currently recruiting three or four skilled individuals to join our volunteer Board of Directors to advise, govern, oversee policy and direction, and assist with the leadership and general promotion of YES so as to support the organization’s mission and needs.

YES is looking for people who have some of the following areas of interests/skills: Youth and families, program planning, community recruitment, public relations, legal, accounting/finances.

Impact Statement:  

Victoria Youth Empowerment Society (YES) is a multi-service agency working in partnership with families and the community that provides a diverse set of programs in response to the needs of Victoria’s vulnerable youth and their families.

Programs offered by YES include: an emergency youth shelter, a specialized youth detox, youth and family counsellors, a life skills program, a supported independent living program, an outreach team, a drop-in center and various recreational activities for youth.

Our vision is to provide a continuum of care that empowers positive choices in the lives of multiple-barrier youth by providing accessible, innovative and proactive programs.

We strive to meet the needs of youth by working in partnership with families and the community to deliver a safe and supportive environment for at–risk youth. We do this by being resourceful and meeting community standards as demonstrated through the experience and professionalism of the YES staff.

Location/Venue: YES’ main office is 533 Yates st, Victoria.

Time Commitment: Approximately 2-3 hours a month (can vary month to month)

Commitment Details : one meeting per month and attend fundraising events if interested. 

Training provided: This is a volunteer position with YES. You will be provided a board member orientation, manual, and training regarding your role.

Volunteer Age: 22 plus
