PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

GOALS provides outreach counselling to youth presenting with alcohol and substance
misuse issues and youth with concurrent disorders. The program offers an "open door"
approach to youth who are experiencing difficulties and are in need of immediate
individual service.

PROGRAM DELIVERY

The GOALS program strives to engage youth, provides screening and assessment,
facilitates/supports a stabilization plan, provides education on available treatment
options and helps youth connect to appropriately matched treatment. The GOALS
Program promotes integrated case coordination for all youth and a family systems
approach.

PROGRAM DELIVERY

Provides consultation, education and support to families, community partners and the
general public. Referrals are accepted from anyone in the Greater Victoria area.

WHAT CAN YOUTH EXPECT FROM THE GOALS PROGRAM?

  • Confidentiality
  • No judgements
  • Accurate information about substance use
  • To be treated with respect and dignity
  • To receive counselling from trained, youth friendly, experienced,
    professional counsellors
  • An understanding that there may be other issues that are important
    to you and receive help in those areas
  • To play a major role in your own individual plan
  • Encouragement to set goals for yourself that are realistic and attainable
  • To have explained to you, your rights and responsibilities as a participant

Your Goals are built one step at a time and are about hope, dreams, choices,
decisions, trust and seeking support.

You may have more strengths and support than you know.
