	Summer Opportunities Program [SOP]
	SOP is a daytime activity program for youth 13-19 years of age and operates out of the Alliance Club at the Youth Empowerment Society (YES), 533 Yates St. SOP provides a safe and productive alternative for at risk youth to help prevent them from connecting with the high-risk environment of the street scene in Victoria. During the past 9 years, SOP has helped over 1800 youth, enjoyed 6200 youth visits and served more than 4600 lunches. The Program involves recreational, social and cultural activities and outings while meeting the basic needs of youth downtown including free daily access to healthy lunches, showers, laundry facilities and a supportive place to be. In addition to the SOP activities, YES professional staff are available to assist SOP youth with alcohol and drug counselling, family mediation, emergency shelter and information on housing, education and employment opportunities.
